Itching and Earrings

This week I have been really itchy and I visited my own school and it turns out that my teacher will be Lou.  And the other teacher for Year One is Prue.  And we already met the principal.  And she was really nice.

All of my other earrings have been getting my ears infected so we needed to buy new earrings and these earrings don't hurt at all and they are really easy to turn and there is none of them in America, but there is a spray-on antibacterial thing for ears and I like it a lot.

And I met some girls at the park that are gonna be in my class and I didn't like them at all.  (I was going to say hate, but Nancy would be mad.)

Hi Ripley,

Are Lou and Prue women or men or one of each? Will it be easier to remember their names because they rhyme, or will that make it more confusing? I'm glad you think your principal is nice.

It's good that you were able to visit your school before you begin classes there. How are you doing on your work from Farm School? Is there anything I can help with?

You were right, I'm glad you didn't say "hate". Remember that the other kids aren't lucky enough to have gone to the Farm School, so they may not know all that you know about being kind. Try to be patient with them and give them second and third chances.

Love,
Nancy

Oh, I forgot. Sorry about the itchy ears. That's really annoying.

Nancy, again

Hi Ripley,
Uncle Mike is sending you a package tomorrow and in it will be a nice new pair of earrings that won't hurt your ears! Poor you! There will also be other surprises for you and Casey! I'm sorry those girls weren't very nice. Maybe they were shy and didn't know how to be a friend. Sometimes, kids act mean when they don't know what to say. Maybe they've never met anyone from America before. I agree with Nancy that you probably need to give them more chances. And, just think, there will be lots of kids at this new school, so I bet you will find some fun people. Be sure to write in your blog when you receive the package! We'll talk to you soon. Lots of love, Aunt Heidi

Dearest Ripley, I am glad that you got earrings that don't make your ears sore. I can bring you a pair when we come and visit!
How nice that you got a chance to go to school and meet your teachers. I am sure that you will tell us all about them when school starts.
I think that you will be able to teach all the kids in your class about mental violence--you have learned how to be kind and helpful in Farm School and I know that you will be a wonderful example to your classmates.
Taz is fine--he likes the long walks that we take and he loves to snuggle with Grandpa under the covers. He knows that I keep biscuits in the "stash" closet so when I say good boy to thim, he goes and stands right in front of the closet!! He is funny!
Lots of love from Grandpa and me! xx

Dear Nancy,

They are both women. It will make it confusinger since you would call Lou Prue and Prue Lou. And there is also a Sue at the school.

No, there is not anything you can help with, but I did need a little help on the last page of my language book, but my mom helped me.

Dear Aunt Heidi,

I agree with you and Nancy. The girls weren't nice. Nancy, I will give them a second and third chance. And grandma, I will be able to teach them about mental violence.

Love Ripley

Hi Ripley,

I am sorry to hear about the heat and the itchiness of your ears. I always had that same problem when I got my ears pierced--but I didn't get to pierce my ears until I was 12 years old, so I am now jealous.

I agree with Nancy. Don't forget how hard you worked to learn what it means to be kind when you made new friends at Farm School. You gave yourself second, third and even fourth chances. Be patient with yourself and the people you meet at your new school.

I do want to know if everybody's names rhyme...can you imagine if everyone's names at Farm School had to rhyme?

Take care and stay cool.

Miss you lots.

Dana

Dear Ripley,

I'm very proud of you. It's hard to give people more chances.

Speaking of names that rhyme and are confusing, do you know the story "Too Many Daves" from Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss? If everyone's name rhymes at your new school, you may have to choose a new name. If I was there, I'd call myself Nanue. How about you?

Love,
Nancy
